Martin Luther King (born Michael King Jr, January 15th, 1929 - April 4th, 1969) was an African American Baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesperson and leader in the American civil rights movement from 1955 to to 1968 and even after his assassination has continued to motivate a nation. King advanced civil rights through non violence and civil disobedience, inspired by his Christian beliefs and the non-violent activism of Mahatma Ghandi he has become one of the most inspiring speakers and leaders of our times and continues to fuel the passion of Christ and equality for a new generation.
